Asset Tag Help

Learn how to order, apply, scan, assign, replace, and troubleshoot Track Reserve QR asset tags.

Track Reserve QR tags connect physical tools and equipment to their records in the asset-tracking platform.

Tags and software plans

Asset tags and software subscriptions are separate products. Your subscription provides access to the platform and determines your asset, user, and storage limits. Physical QR tags are ordered separately.

You can still create and manage assets without tags, but tags make equipment faster to identify and update from the field.

Ordering tags

Asset tags are generated specifically for the company that purchased them. After ordering, Track Reserve links the order to your company, generates a unique batch, and prepares the tags for production and delivery.

Applying a tag

Clean and dry the selected surface before applying the tag. Place it somewhere that is:

  • Easy to scan
  • Protected from direct impact
  • Unlikely to be removed during maintenance
  • Not covering controls, vents, serial numbers, or safety labels

Scanning a tag

Scan the QR code using your phone’s camera or the Scan page inside Track Reserve. An unused tag will guide an authorized user through creating a new asset or assigning the tag to an existing asset.

Entering a tag manually

If the QR code cannot be scanned, enter the complete number printed on the tag.

Example:

TESTCO-2026-0003-0002

Replacing a tag

Replacing a damaged or missing tag does not change the asset’s permanent asset number or erase its history. Contact support before reusing, duplicating, or replacing an assigned tag.
